It is with great pleasure that I can announce the Editblog is going to be moving over the ProVideo Coalition! (I just discovered the sticky feature in Wordpress so I’ve moved this to the top of the front page so new visitors to the Editblog can easily get to the Editblog on PVC.)

You got less than a week to get tickets for the next FCP User Group SuperMeet. This one is February 5 in San Francisco. It will be at the Robertson Auditorium with doors opening at 3:30 pm for the “Digital Showcase” and the show beginning at 7:00. Just looking at the event’s website it looks like there’s a great list of raffle prizes … as always. This one includes a Canon 5D Mark II, AJA Ki Pro, Adobe CS4 (!), Avid Media Composer 4 (!!) and several BlackMagic cards among a lot of other great goodies. Prizes aren’t the only thing on the schedule and this agenda looks to be a strong one:

* Smoke on Mac OSX – Alexandre Domingue
* “Destroy Me” – Jordan Livingston (music vid)
* AJA KiPro – Jon Thorn
* Best Workflow for Canon File-Based Cameras – Joe Bogacz
* Motion 4 Does 3D – Mark Spencer
* The Idea behind IDEO’s Living Climate Change – Matt Silverman
* The New Speed Tools in FCP 7 – Kevin Monahan
* Hand Held Hollywood – Taz Goldstein
* And MORE

Both the Smoke demo and the Canon workflow should be of interest to many. I would say to click here and sign up for some free workshops but most are sold out. As of this writing 2 aren’t so click here anyway and try to get them or to see what you might be missing. Grab your tickets before they are all gone.

The Late Show with David Letterman has started a segment called the Technical Maintenance Minute. The 1/5/10 segment was about Avid and for us Avid geeks it was great. Sorry the quality sucks as I grabbed it with my iPhone as the segment went by. I need to figure out how to pull good video off the Comcast DVR … so crank it up:

And there was a ProTools one back in December (after the jump)

I’ve seen LiveFonts all over local cable advertising but have rarely seen them dancing their way around national broadcast and cable television. But this morning CNN broke ‘em out during a story about the lobbying of Congress by unexpected parties during the healthcare debate:

With this the second day of 2010 we begin a new monthly reminder from the Editblog …

Be it just an assortment of important files or entire hard drives I hope this monthly post popping up in your RSS feed might save some files from being lost forever. Happy 2010 and may your hard drive crashes cause minimal pain.

Griffin Technology is CES Bound

If you’re got an iPhone or iPod then you might very well have a product from Griffin Technologies. These folks have been churning out accessories, peripherals and consumer electronics for a lot of years now. To kick off 2010 they are unveiling a new logo and driving across the country in a “(somewhat) restored 37-year old VW camper-van crammed full of Griffin gear.”

Their final destination will be the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show. You can follow all this madness at Griffin’s CES Bound site that will chronicle the adventure. With 5 people crammed into the van, lots of iPhones and Flip cams, laptops and wifi hotspots, there’s bound to be a lot of pics, videos and updates beamed back from the road. Meetups are being planned along the route as well (December 30th in New Orleans, LA; December 31st in Austin, TX; January 1st in El Paso or Las Cruces; January 2nd in Phoenix, AZ  and January 3rd in Grand Canyon, AZ). You can RSVP for any of the meetups at the CES Bound site. If you can’t make any of their planned events and you happen to see the orange and white Vee Dub along the way, stop and say hello and you might get a handful of swag. Who doesn’t like swag?

Oh, what to look for along the road? Here it is but it will be decked out with Griffin’s new logo, curtains, billowing smoke from the cabin and exhaust and 5 (possibly weary) road warriors with lots of electronic gear:
