A great site gets better….

That image above says it all. istockphoto.com, everyone’s favorite stock photography site announced, recently announced that they will be adding video to their catalog of reasonably priced, downloadable stock media. The site says: “We want to see animations, stop motions, digitized film footage, video clips, and wacky abstract movies. You know, stuff like this.” Though I’m sure they will be screening everything before it is posted for all to buy, it will be fun to watch and see what kind of stuff gets put up for sale. A You Tube for film geeks. This will be nice as I recently had to go through a long process of getting a stock shot of a starry night sky. We eventually found the clip on Getty Images but it took quite a while. Of course Getty Images recently bought istockphoto.com. I just hope they keep the site as the fun, practical way to buy stock images that it always has been. My guess is that they are since they are starting up istockvideo. So get the cameras out and the After Effects fired up and submit!

UPDATE: 8/7/06. Last night it filled out the applicaton and uploaded my 3 sample clips to possibly become an iStockvideo contributor. I’ve collected quite a bit of stock footage from a number of shorts and productions I’ve worked on… so I thought it would be nice to share. I picked 3 clips that I liked and uploaded them as samples. Now I am waiting to see if I get accepted.
