UPDATE: Cnet has a quick video interview with Cuts CEO Evan Krauss explaining the Cuts “service.” They comment on Titanic during the interview.  Enjoy it while you can Evan before James Cameron sees this interview and snuffs your venture out! As he rightly should. There’s also a nice debate going on about this at this post at dvguru.com.
Macworld has posted an interesting article about Cuts, an “editing service” that allows users to edit, share and watch personalized versions of copyrighted video and movies legally. This is very interesting because in July a court ruled against something very similar. It seems as if things might be a little different with this service as it appears you make “virtual edits” using the service.

Here are two descriptions from the Cuts website:

From the description above it seems they aren’t only targeting the “inappropriate” content but rather allowing anyone to do pretty much anything they want. I have to say that unless the creators of Cuts has been able to strike some kind of magical deal with studios and content creators then this service probably won’t last all that long. I really doubt Scorsese wants the average Joe tinkering with Goodfellas. If it’s too violent for kids, don’t let them watch it at all.
