If you haven’t seen the Dove “Evolution” short then watch it right now.

I saw it the other day while thumbing around over at Filppant News. It is really a very well done piece of work and the perfect thing for online viewing. I really got a kick out of reading a lot of the comments over at one of the youtube pages that has it posted. They really run the gament. Personally, I think it’s quite brilliant. Especially since there are a lot of people out there who don’t realize that most of what they see on television, in movies or in print are photoshopped, color corrected, retouched, softened and tweaked. The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty site is fun to tool around on as well.

A brilliant social statement, and quite thought-provoking. Though the Dove campaign as a whole is also the inevitable necessity of capitalizing on baby-boomer demographic trends.

And honestly, perhaps, a trifle disingenuous: it is, after all, beauty “manufacturers” (such as Unilever) who were largely responsible for helping distort our perceptions in the first place.

I think the transformation of this woman is amazing! In the vidio it showed hairdressers and make up artists transform this woman. The process was very long and for someone like me to look like this normally is impossible, therefore it makes me feel unattractive next to girls groomed to perfection in magazines and telivision etc. People in the beuaty industry must use this technique to get people to buy their products that actually will never make you look like the girls in the magizines and television. to me personally this girl does not look beautiful in the picture after her transformation, she looks like a fake, plastic, stiff barbie like doll and does not look natural. From seeing this video it has made me realise that beauty very much comes from inside your heart , believing in yourself and your confidence. Why should you always feel insecure and unhappy with the way you look next to these girls in magizines because they are obviously not natural beutys, they are fake. most of them are anorexic or belimic anyway, which is really sad. why wish you are something you are not, be happy with yourself. i wish more people in the beuty industry would promote things like dove are doing, i think it is fantastic!
