Avid podcasts return. (or so they say)

Avid recently updated their podcast page with Avid Podcast Episode 001. This first episode is around 10 minutes with “highlights of an interview with Dean Gonzalez, music video editor at Sunset edit where he talks about working in the industry, and with Media Composer, as well as with bands like Green Day, Aerosmith and others.”
Now, they call this Episode 001. Avid has had a podcast that started in August 2005. There were very few episodes between then and a lot of them were quick video podcasts recorded at NAB. The other were mostly quickie things only 2 or 3 minutes long. This Episode 001 is, of course, an Avid commercial more than anything else. I would challenge them to not focus so much on selling us on the Avid products but to really dig into some of this talent that they will be featuring. We know they’ll be using Avid hardware but what I really want to hear is editors talking about their craft, and their business. Avid has a special place in the post production world as they are the standard in Hollywood so I sure hope this “relaunch” of the Avid Podcast can bring some interviews, subjects and insights that other companies can’t.
