The new e-edition of Film and Video has a how they did it article for a Pittsburg Zoo spot directed by Michael Killen. The spot features a group of “polar bear club” swimmers taking a winter-time dip in a river… and then a real polar bear comes along. How they did it articles aren’t anything new on the web but this article has some great supporting video. First, watch the spot at the first link (Flash video) and then view the second clip which is the spot with audio commentary. The video has a cool rotating bar that splits the screen and displays the before and after as the spot plays. A nice study in regional spot effects and production. Oh… and there’s actual text in the article as well.
