A new website recently went online to help the switchers and help facilitate the “friendly” debate between Avid and Final Cut Pro. Avid2FCP says: “If you’re an Avid editor who is switching completely to Final Cut Pro or perhaps adding it to your skill set, then this site is for you.” The site has been created by a number of experienced editors who have moved to and champion Final Cut Pro. With a name like Avid2FCP it’s pretty obvious that the slant is on helping with the move from Avid software to Apple’s Final Cut Pro but as the front page of the site states: “Any discussion about choice of editing software will usually inspire some…well let’s just call them “passionate views”. This site isn’t the place for Avid or Final Cut Pro bashing so please keep it friendly” you can have informed and friendly discussion on either software package and learn something from both sides. As a fan and user of both Avid and Final Cut Pro, I look forward to joining in that debate.
