A big decision was recently made … after nearly 8 years of freelancing editing I’ve decided to take a staff position at the Nashville office of the Filmworkers Club. Why choose to leave a successful business that has supported me for 8 years? As anyone who has ever been self-employed can tell you, there are +’s and -’s to self-employment. It can be very rewarding, extremely busy, and quite scary all at the same time. I think it comes down to new challenges and the excitement of change. The Nashville facility has several offline edit systems, 2 film transfer suites including a Spirit 2K and da Vinci color correction as well as Avid D|S Nitris and Quantel eQ systems for finishing. Not to mention a talented and friendly staff that I have known and worked with on a freelance basis for those 8 years. So here we go…

From a fellow freelancer…congratulations. The feeling of constant employment is a nice thing.

I’ve been self-employed (self-unemployed sometimes) for about 4 years now, so I understand.

I went to theFilmworkers Club web site but it is spectacularly uninformative as to what they do. All the menus just seem to lead to other menus. I got tired of drilling down. You might want to suggest that they have a prominent one-click-link to a section about “what we can do for you”, if they do accept customers.

    Best regards,

    Rob:-]
