VideoTrace. 3D modeling made easy

I think I remember this piece of video making the rounds a year or so ago but it popped into my mailbox yesterday and if you haven’t seen it, it’s worth checking out. It’s a piece of software called VideoTrace from the Austrailan Centre for Visual Technologies. It’s an amazingly quick way of making 3D models from video or a still image. It’s only a concept right now and doesn’t seem to be available for public consumption. Maybe this could do to 3D modeling what Final Cut Pro has done for video editing?

Also have a look at this other demonstration that integrates this more into an actual video clip. Pretty cool stuff.
