opencut.org open for business

OpenCut is a completely open-source film competition designed to encourage people to take professionally shot material and edit it in their own way. As there is no “one way” to tell a story, so too can stories benefit from being re-edited and re-told from many different vantage points and perspectives.
The winner of OpenCut 1.0 will receive a brand new AJA IO HD from Silverado. They will also be recognized as the “editor-of-record” at IMDB and will have their cut submitted to multiple film festivals.
Basically, you pay the $25 entry fee, send them a hard drive and they send it back to you full of 160 GB of RED footage! From the looks of it you can pretty much do everything from the edit to music to color grading (remember the color grading will have to be done since this is raw RED footage), pretty much what ever you want with the post. This could be a great opportunity for an editor to work with narrative footage, work with RED footage or both. The contest is open to pretty much anyone, student or professional alike. Get your hard drive (and your entry fee) ready and be prepared to edit! All the info is at the official site.
