Avid is on Twitter
By S Simmons. Filed in Blogs and links, from the net |Avid has recently joined up with Twitter. They can be followed at AvidTechnology. They don’t have a lot of tweets in their feed as of yet and what is there seems a bit more like the usual press release stuff but let’s hope they use the service as something more than another way to release press releases. It seems that some  companies are trying to use Twitter for some kind of good rather than just blatant advertising. There was recent discussion on TWIT about Comcast and how they have been using the service. Now I despise most things Comcast, their high prices and their constant marketing of great deals for the first 3 months but from what I gathered from the TWIT episode is they are using Twitter to connect with customers, answer questions and maybe even help! How long this will last is anyone’s guess and once more people begin to hound them for help on Twitter they will probably back off but for the moment it seems like they are using it well. If you’ve joined Twitter yourself after my earlier post about getting a Twitter editing group together (maybe one day Twitter will allow people to somehow create and belong to groups) then you may have seen the power of Twitter at work. I have asked and answered editing related questions on occasion and I hope I may have helped someone out there in the Twitterverse. I know I have been helped. Let’s all hope Avid takes the opportunity to use Twitter to connect with customers, listen to feedback, talk about the future and maybe take a suggestion or two. I can just about guarantee that we will never see Apple or the Final Cut Pro team Twittering about the future of that application!
