Griffin Technology is CES Bound

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

If you’re got an iPhone or iPod then you might very well have a product from Griffin Technologies. These folks have been churning out accessories, peripherals and consumer electronics for a lot of years now. To kick off 2010 they are unveiling a new logo and driving across the country in a “(somewhat) restored 37-year old VW camper-van crammed full of Griffin gear.”

Their final destination will be the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show. You can follow all this madness at Griffin’s CES Bound site that will chronicle the adventure. With 5 people crammed into the van, lots of iPhones and Flip cams, laptops and wifi hotspots, there’s bound to be a lot of pics, videos and updates beamed back from the road. Meetups are being planned along the route as well (December 30th in New Orleans, LA; December 31st in Austin, TX; January 1st in El Paso or Las Cruces; January 2nd in Phoenix, AZ  and January 3rd in Grand Canyon, AZ). You can RSVP for any of the meetups at the CES Bound site. If you can’t make any of their planned events and you happen to see the orange and white Vee Dub along the way, stop and say hello and you might get a handful of swag. Who doesn’t like swag?

Oh, what to look for along the road? Here it is but it will be decked out with Griffin’s new logo, curtains, billowing smoke from the cabin and exhaust and 5 (possibly weary) road warriors with lots of electronic gear:

Have a safe and happy holiday

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Thanks to all of the readers who have clicked over to the Editblog in 2009 and all the years before that. And thanks to all of those who have followed us over to Pro Video Coalition as well. We’ll continue to bring you what we hope is fun and useful content in 2010. With most new content on the Editblog going to our channel on PVC we’re trying to figure out exactly what to do and what type of stuff to post here on the original Editblog space. Stay tuned for 2010 and have a great Holiday season.

(note: If you’re only seeing a summary in your RSS feed please click over for all of the linkage. I’ve set the feeds to show the entire post but for some reason it will not work properly. We are currently troubleshooting and hopefully an update will fix the problem. It is annoying as I like to see entire posts in my RSS feeds.)

Get duplicate frame detection with 5D and 7D footage

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I recently wrote a piece over at the Editblog on PVC about using the show duplicate frames function in Final Cut Pro. It’s particularly useful if you work with Canon 5D and 7D footage since FCP won’t track the dupe frames with that media as it’s missing a reel name. That’s discussed in the post as well.
