I’m proud to say that I’ll be working with NewMediaWebinars.com and presenting a webinar about DSLR post-production on June 22, 2010. The session will begin at 10:00 am Pacific (1:00 pm for the east coasters) and lasts 90 minutes. The webinar is free to attend live but the best value is the $25 package that includes the live event, a downloadable HD version of the archive, an audio podcast with an exclusive Q and A as well as project files used during the webinar. You can read all about the event including a detailed description on what we will be covering as well as an agenda at the DSLR Post Workflow page. If you have any specific questions you’d like to see covered then please comment below and we’ll try to address them. This is part of a two webinar series that New Media Webinars is doing that also includes a DSLR Filmmaking Production Reality Check.

A short preview (a look at the CAnon EOS Log and Transfer plug-in for Final Cut Pro) is below. If you’re curious about DSLR post-production then this event is for you.

    hey scott,

this is good stuff. we’re currently on our first bigger job that we shot on the 5D, so the infos from the seminar should come in handy.

two things i’d be particularly interested in seeing addressed:

    - difference between prores (HQ) and normal prores for transcoding the h264-files (we’Re still on FCP 6). the final cut eos plug-in defaults to prores (HQ), but as far as i know it is recommended to use the regular prores because it allows the 8-bit files to “float” freely inside the codec, whereas the HQ-version will force the file to fill out the entire 10-bit space. is that correct? would love to see some clarification on this.

    - if you could address consolidating media / freeing up disk space after the cut is locked. those prores files take up lots of space and with lots of footage you have serious storage requirements. so i’d love to see how to get rid of unwanted prores media after the cut is finished.

looking really forward to the webinar – gonna go for the 25 dollar ticket.
